GM: Number 1 for the first half of 2011
Were not expected GM General Motors at such party in the first half of 2011 but the tsunami in Japan appears to have redistributed the cards as well as Japanese manufacturers appear weakened by the disaster but also by the ranges and products less attractive than before .
So strong earthquake Japan, weakening their business, GM has repositioned itself as the number one automaker in the world with 4.536 million new cars put on the road
either a great increase of 8.56% over the same period in 2010. This situation therefore allows GM to regain her lost seat in 2008 after 73 years of hegemony on the world market (in terms of sales volume).
GM foregoing not Toyota ... but the VW group that delivered 4.10 million units (+14.1% compared to 2010). Finally Toyota is losing two places and finished third on the podium with only 3.71 million new delivered cars and with a big drop of more than 22.0%.
Follow in order:
4th: Ford
5th: Hyundai-Kia Group
6th: The Renault-Nissan
The positions for 2011, according to experts, should be fixed for the second semester except if the current fiscal, which could have a real impact on the American market, continues and leads to his downfall in a sharp decline in the North American market. This could then leave the field almost free to VW Group which is not too far from GM.
